Alpinism

The Alps offer an infinite number of challenges and objectives, from snowy summits to pointy aiguilles, quiet backwaters and 4000 metre giants. Below are some ideas to peruse but lets talk, and create your bespoke Alpine mission.

Guiding

Glaciers & Easy Summits

Glacier journeys and ascents of the easier/ introductory Alpine peaks, including some of the least technical 4000’ers.

Ideas:

Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc de Tacul, Aiguille de Tour, Pigne d’Arolla, Mont Blanc de Cheilon, Breithorn, Dom, Castor, Pollox, Dufourspitze, Allalinhorn, Weissmies, Lagginhorn, Monch etc etc

June – Septemeber

1:1 – 1:3 guiding ratio possible depending on journey / peak.

Guiding rate is £450/day

Guiding

Mont Blanc

An ascent of the highest peak in Western Europe is always special, whether it’s by the “voie normale” Gouter or Trois Monts or by one of the more challenging routes, being stood on the summit feels awesome. Regardless of the route, a thorough acclimatisation process must happen before the summit is attempted, meaning you’ll be immersed in the mountains for at least a week.

June & July

Guiding ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 depending on route

Guiding rate starting from £450/day

Guiding

Matterhorn

The jewel of Switzerland’s crown. The unmistakable Matterhorn.  Whether approaching from Italy or Switzerland there is no simple route on the Matterhorn which means the summit day is always big and challenging, as you have a technical route to ascend and descend often taking 10-14 hours.  I require we have climbed together, before we attempt the Matterhorn, either during acclimatisation or in the recent past.

July – September

Guiding ratio is 1:1

Guiding rate starting from £450/day depending on route

Guiding

Technical Alpine 4000'er

The trickier end of the 82 peaks above 4000 metres in the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps.  Taking the “voie normale” or finding a harder challenge on some of the easier summits.  These will be big days in the mountains. Aretes, couliors, traverses, aigulles, snow, ice, rock. These challenges are for people who already have a wealth of mountaineering experience under their belts.

Ideas:

Dent du Geant, Grandes Jorrasses, Ober Gabelhorn, Aiguilles du Diable, Schreckhorn, Aiguille Verte, Dent d’Herens, Zinalrothorn, Lenzspitze, Dent Blanche, Matterhorn, Liskamm, Taschhorn, Weisshorn
